Sublime Sunday – French Fries Tempura Recipe
Posted by Cracker on December 20th, 2009I cook special hamburgers Senor has dubbed Yummy Burgers, and last week I decided that they needed their natural accompaniment – French fries! If you’ve ever seen my dumpling shape, you know that I naturally love French fries. In fact, I’m in love with all things potato, as I’m proud to show. So for Sublime Sunday I’m sharing with you the recipe to your very own dumpling shape. Don’t fret. You’ll be fat and happy.
French Fries Tempura
3 Potatoes, peeled and cut into French fry shapes
1 cup flour
Salt
Pepper
Garlic Salt
Other spices of your choice
Water
Cooking Oil
1.) Mix the flour, salt, pepper and random spices in a medium sized bowl.
2.) Drizzle water into the bowl, stirring the mixture until it becomes a paste. It will look kind of like salad dressing
3.) Dredge the potatoes in the paste one at a time
4.) Heat up about an inch to an inch and a half of oil in a frying pan
5.) Drop the potatoes into the frying pan so that they don’t touch each other (it will take three or four batches to cook all of your potatoes)
6.) Cook until browned on both sides
7.) Lay a couple of paper towels on a plate, and as each batch finishes, set the finished French fries tempura on the plate so that the paper towel soaks up the extra oil
8.) Eat
Cook these puppies and you’ll see why we call them French Fries Tempura. Enjoy!
…And let me know if yours turned out as awesome as mine did.
